About the Artist: John Paul Antido, or Japs for short, hails from Antipolo and is a graduate of the University of the Philippines Fine Arts Program major in painting. Impressionistic and Van Gogh-esque, Japs' works are lively in color and movement. By mixing traditional and modern symbols, he is able ti succinctly capture the Filipino culture's vibrancy, hybridity, and ever-changing nature.
Japs received praise and awards for his works, including the grand prize in the 2005 Art Petron National Student Art Competition. He was also shortlisted in the 2011 Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards, the 2009 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence National Competition, the 2005 GSIS Annual Painting Competition, among others. He has also exhibited in Lao, Singapore, Malaysia, and Denmark.
