About the Artist

Aldy Aguirre is a freelance artist and illustrator, who narrates his art using watercolor and gouache. Inspired by nature, memories, and emotions, his artful dreamscapes can be seen in various children’s books. His works have been recognized locally by the Philippine Board on Books for the Young People and National Book Development Board; and abroad by ILUSTRARTE in Castelo Branco, Portugal, and Sharjah Exhibition for Children’s Book Illustrations.  He illustrated the book Si Kian, now part of the White Ravens Catalog by the International Youth Library in Munich, Germany.

Recently, Aldy held his solo show “Usok at Bulaklak sa Panahon ng Martial Law” at CANVAS Gallery and Garden, which is an extension to a children’s book slated to be released within the year. He is a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan, an association of artists committed to creating and promoting illustrations for children.
